I went to see My Week with Marilyn this week and found it brilliant. Michelle Williams should definitely be on her way to Oscar glory after her performance.Marilyn, however, was not the only showgirl I saw this week and while browsing on Twitter -@HuffingtonPost -I came across some amazing snaps, and although these girls were not on Monroe’s level, they were captivating none the less. 

These pictures where taken by Stanley Kubrick while he worked at the Look magazine in New York in the early 50s. During this time, he photographed Manhattan’s showgirls, boxers, presidential visits and normal people strolling around NYC. Kubrick later went on to become a filmmaker, with such successes as Lolita, A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange and The Shining under his belt.

A selection of 25 picture were chosen for auction at the Museum of the City of New York and as you can see I have selected a few of my favourites for you to see above. Let me know what you think!
